Rising screen star Sara Miles plays as Cass, an Irish girl who has been living in London where she married an English doctor, Matthew (Julian Glover). But the marriage is failing and Cass decide one Christmas to return to her native city to find her first love, the fisherman Colin Foley (Sean Caffrey) who has she learns become engaged. Matthew follows Cass to Ireland and the emotional crises come to a head. Shot on location in Clare and made at Twickenham Studios, mid-1960s romance was adapted for screen by Edna O’Brien.
